Statesboro Festival of the Arts Returns This Weekend: Here’s Everything You Need to Know
If you live in Statesboro or anywhere in Bulloch County, I’ve got exciting news for your weekend plans — and I’m not talking about yard work. This Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, the 2nd Annual Statesboro Festival of the Arts is taking over South Main Street, and it promises to be one of the finest celebrations our downtown has seen in years.
I’ve watched this town grow in so many beautiful ways since my family opened Walker Pharmacy back in 1984. But I have to say — watching Statesboro blossom into a real arts destination? That fills my heart. This is a community that works hard, loves deep, and celebrates together. And this weekend, we get to do all three.
What Is the Statesboro Festival of the Arts?
Now in its second year, the Statesboro Festival of the Arts is a juried fine arts festival held at The Market at Visit Statesboro on South Main Street in the heart of downtown. The event brings together more than 70 professional artists from across the Southeast and beyond — including artists from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Utah, and New York — all competing and showcasing their finest original work.
What makes this festival truly special is the rigor behind it. Artists were selected through a blind jury process that evaluated originality, artistic quality, and technical skill. The 2026 adjudicators are Christina Lemon, a metalsmith professor at Georgia Southern University right here in Statesboro, and Cyndy Epps, a painter from Augusta University. That’s the kind of caliber this event has earned in just its second year — and it reflects beautifully on our community.
You’ll find an extraordinary range of original work on display and available for purchase: paintings, ceramics, metalwork, woodwork, and so much more. Whether you’re a seasoned art collector or someone who just knows what you love when you see it, there is something here for everyone.

Why Local Arts Events Matter to Our Community
I know some folks might think an arts festival is just a nice afternoon out. And it absolutely is that. But I’ve come to believe it’s a whole lot more, too. Events like this are what bind a community together. They bring people out of their homes and into the streets. They introduce neighbors to each other. They give our local economy a healthy boost — from the food trucks doing a brisk business to hotels welcoming visitors from out of town who came specifically for this.
For Bulloch County, attracting artists from as far as Utah and New York to South Main Street is a genuine statement. It says: Statesboro is a place worth coming to. And for those of us who’ve been here a while — who’ve raised our kids here, built our businesses here, buried our loved ones here — that recognition means something real.
Georgia Southern University deserves a nod here too. Having a GSU professor serve as one of the festival’s adjudicators is a wonderful reminder of how deeply the University is woven into the fabric of life in Statesboro. When town and gown work together like this, everybody wins.
A Seasonal Health Note: The Real Benefits of Art and Getting Outside
This time of year — late March in Southeast Georgia — is genuinely one of the most beautiful windows we get before the heat sets in. The azaleas are blooming, the air is mild, and being outdoors feels effortless. I always encourage folks to take advantage of these perfect spring days while they last.
There’s also a growing body of research showing that engaging with the arts — even just viewing art — has real, measurable benefits for mental and emotional health. Reduced stress, improved mood, a sense of awe and wonder that our daily routines rarely provide. If you’ve been feeling the grind lately, a leisurely walk through an outdoor art festival on a beautiful Statesboro morning might be exactly the medicine you didn’t know you needed.
One quick reminder for this time of year: spring in Georgia means pollen season. If you or someone in your family struggles with seasonal allergies, our team at Walker Pharmacy can help you find the right over-the-counter relief — or work with your doctor on something stronger if needed. Don’t let allergies keep you inside on a weekend this good. Stop by and we’ll get you sorted.
Also, if you’re heading out Saturday with the kids, don’t forget sunscreen. The spring sun is deceptively strong, even when the temperature feels mild. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher applied before you head out is a simple habit that pays dividends for years to come.
